Motion-picture art

Motion picture is probably one of the most complex art forms due to its nature. Motion picture art is an art form that means creation of moving pictures by filming real, specially dramatized or animated events.

Motion-picture art comprises the aesthetical qualities of literature, theatre, pictorial art and music on the basis of its own unique expressive means that are based on filming reality and editing.

For the whole period of development of motion-picture industry four major types of it can be distinguished: art cinematography that puts into practice works of other art forms like literature (prose, dramaturgy, poetry); documentary cinematography, which is a special kind of journalism, animation filming, which is a way of depicting reality (both real and imaginary) by means of animating graphical images; and popular science films that use the methods of the three types described above to popularize scientific knowledge.

The various genres of the motion-picture art that existed earlier (like comedy, melodrama, adventure) are experiencing the process of blending and disintegration as new and innovative ideas are being constantly offered by young and talented directors.

Motion-picture art has become a source of huge profits for its producers almost from the moment of invention of cinematography. Today the industry is represented by huge companies with the biggest and the richest ones are located in Hollywood, USA. They produce hundreds of new movies every year and make billions of dollars all over the world.
